What’s new in Lands Design

    Lands Design 6.2 (December 2024)

    • Terrain Object
      • Path
        • Enhanced slope control with multiple methods:
          • Curve elevation
          • Terrain elevation
          • Curve start-end elevation
          • Start-end terrain elevation
          • Constant grade
          • Per-segment grade
        • New option to specify a maximum grade
        • Added justification option for improved alignment
      • Earthmoving
        • You can now switch between cut only, fill only, or cut & fill modes for any operation at any moment
        • Cut and fill angles can now be defined separately
        • Angles can be specified in degrees, as a percentage, or using a rise-over-run ratio
        • Added an option to limit the extent of cut and fill operations
      • Elevation Data
        • Added sampling options for finer control over curve-to-point conversion for triangulation:
          • Specify maximum sample interval
          • Specify maximum deviation
        • Added the ability to extract the resulting triangulation mesh
      • Improved Input Data Editing
        • Input Data objects are now accessible through the Edit Panel selection tree as child elements of the Terrain object, each with its own property tabs
        • The Input Data tab has been removed from the Terrain object
        • You can now assign names to all types of input data (elevation data, earthmovings, boundaries, divisions, etc.)
        • Added an option to temporarily disable any input data for later use
        • Added the ability to extract the curve from any single input data
      • Base box
        • New option to show/hide the bottom cap
    • Earth Importer
      • Roads are now joined and trimmed automatically
    • Animation
      • Animations are now saved as MP4 files encoded with H264 standard
    • IFC Support
      • Added support for IFC 4
    • Other Improvements
      • It is now possible to add elevation data to a Terrain imported from Earth or DEM files
      • Ramp and Path objects are now taken into account when elevating to terrain
      • You can now edit the names of objects tagged as terrain or plant
      • Lands now remembers the Plant Label properties when inserting multiple labels
      • Break lines can now be inserted in the Plant Database fields
      • The units in the Terrain List are now updated when the model units change
    • Error Fixes
      • Slope object was showing the rise-over-length percentage rather than the rise-over-run
      • Shrub, Groundcover and Topiary 2D display could fail to fill the hatch
      • Default species initials were including the ” x ” part of hybrid species scientific name
      • Level Mark object displayed two negative signs for negative level values
      • Superhatch object wasn’t working properly
      • Sidebar could not appear in some cases when using the RhinoLands user interface
    • Notes
      • Supported Rhino versions
        • Rhino 8 SR11 or later, and
        • Rhino 7 SR33 or later
      • Supported AutoCAD versions
        • AutoCAD 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021
